Caroline Wozniacki Sends 'Grass Is Greener' Message at Wimbledon Amid Rory McIlroy Visit
Wozniacki's 'Grass Is Greener' Wimbledon Message Amid McIlroy Visit

Former tennis star Caroline Wozniacki shared a social media message during her appearance at Wimbledon, posting 'The grass @wimbledon is always greener' on Instagram. Her visit came the same week her ex-fiancé, golfer Rory McIlroy, was spotted at the All England Club watching Novak Djokovic compete.

Wozniacki's Wimbledon Return

The 35-year-old Danish player, a former World No. 1 and 2018 Australian Open winner, travelled to SW19 and posted images of her visit. She never progressed beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon during her career. Wozniacki initially stepped away from tennis in 2020, staged a comeback in 2023, then sat out the entire 2025 season after the birth of her third child. In November 2025, she disclosed that a second return to the sport would be improbable due to family responsibilities.

McIlroy's Courtside Presence and Djokovic's Challenge

Rory McIlroy, wearing his Masters Green Jacket, sat next to his wife Erica Stoll as he watched Djokovic's second-round win over Stefanos Tsitsipas. During the post-match interview, Djokovic issued a playful challenge: 'Rory, what a beautiful jacket. Is that a Masters jacket? It must be. Round of applause for Rory for the Masters, please. I want that jacket. I'll play you. This jacket for that jacket, we'll play tennis! No golf.' Djokovic also thanked McIlroy and fellow golfers Justin Thomas and Luke Donald for attending, saying 'It really means a lot seeing you here.'

Djokovic's Wimbledon Milestone

Djokovic, who turned 39 in May, is targeting Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles. His third-round win against Arthur Rinderknech on Friday saw him match Federer's record of 105 men's singles match victories at Wimbledon. After the match, he said: 'To be able to make history of this sport is a huge honour and privilege, and particularly here. I am not interested in 105 or 106, I am just trying to win that match on a given day. I was quite stressed out. I had more tension than usual. But sometimes you just have to find a way to win, and I'm happy I did that today.'

History of McIlroy and Wozniacki

McIlroy and Wozniacki were romantically involved between 2011 and 2014 and were briefly engaged before the golf icon called off the relationship. Their paths crossed again at Wimbledon, with Wozniacki attending Djokovic's triumph over Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, though it remains unclear whether she watched his match.
