An actor from Manchester has vowed never to buy furniture from charity shops again after uncovering a disturbing item inside a chest of drawers she purchased.
Ellie Henry, who shared her experience on TikTok, bought the wooden chest of drawers to furnish her new home. She said she decided to give them a wipe down and opened a drawer, only to find a photograph of a naked man lurking underneath the lining paper.
Putting on a glove before opening the drawer, she said: "It is so bad that I'm not willing to touch it." She covered the man's genitals with her gloved hand as she revealed the image to her followers.
Exclaiming her disgust, she said: "What are you doing in here?! What are you doing in my nice new drawers?! Safe to say I'm going to have to burn these." She explained the photo was hidden beneath paper lining, so she did not see it when checking the furniture in the shop.
Commenters on the post were baffled, with some suggesting the picture was left intentionally and others dismissing her reaction as dramatic. One wrote: "It's like when you strip old wallpaper and find messages written by previous house owners."
Ellie confirmed she would absolutely not be keeping the drawers, as they now make her feel uncomfortable. The incident has put her off charity shop furniture for good.
