Curtis Holland, known to millions as "King Curtis," became an internet sensation at age six after appearing on the US version of Wife Swap in 2009. His fierce defence of his favourite foods and clashes with stand-in mum Joy Brown propelled him to viral fame.
Raw Food Diet Clash
Fitness boot camp boss Joy wanted the Hollands to follow a strict raw-food diet, a far cry from their usual way of life. The demolition derby-loving family had few rules and indulged Curtis's appetite for fast food, leaving the youngster ruling the roost and earning his royal nickname.
When Joy tried to clear the family fridge of processed meats, Curtis passionately stood up for his food choices. His dramatic reactions produced countless memorable internet quotes, such as: "Bacon is good for me!", "Chicken nuggets is like my family", "I don't wanna be skinny! I wanna be fat and happy!" and "She acts like she's the queen and we're the sorry people!"
Life After the Show
The tension between Curtis and Joy didn't entirely fade after cameras stopped rolling. While they momentarily reconnected years after the programme aired, Curtis ultimately decided to block her on social media to fully leave the experience behind. At one point, Curtis famously packed a small bag and left home, declaring he wouldn't return until his bacon-banning substitute mum had gone.
Despite his massive online presence, Curtis didn't make a fortune from the viral memes. A major meat firm allegedly contacted his family with a lucrative official bacon sponsorship deal, but they had to turn it down because Curtis was legally tied to a strict contract with ABC, the broadcaster that aired Wife Swap. A reality programme pilot centering around him was also shot but never picked up by a channel.
In 2016, a teenage Curtis made a brief appearance alongside his father on the show Pawn Stars, where they unsuccessfully tried to sell a 1920s video camera to buy him a car. He wanted $800 (£600) but turned down a $100 (£75) offer.
Curtis' Life Now
Curtis has now consciously chosen a peaceful life away from the Hollywood spotlight, working as an outdoor welder at International Paper. Living in North Carolina, US, he is an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting, fishing, boating, and messing about with motors. His social media reflects this shift, focusing on faith and outdoor activities rather than his childhood fame.
Years later, Curtis has hilariously confirmed that his stance hasn't changed on bacon, insisting it's still 'good for him'. While he remains a staunch fan of bacon, his childhood obsession with fast food has somewhat subsided. He's joked that he no longer gobbles up chicken nuggets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but still treats himself to them at least once every two weeks.
Curtis is known for keeping his personal life under wraps and maintains a relatively low-key presence on social media, meaning his current relationship status isn't publicly disclosed. However, during a fleeting return to the limelight a few years back, he did confirm that he had a girlfriend at the time.
