Vogue Williams Reveals Marriage Regret on Celebrity Gogglebox Debut
Vogue Williams Shares Marriage Regret on Gogglebox

Celebrity Gogglebox star Vogue Williams has opened up about her 'biggest regret' in a candid marriage confession during her debut on the show. The podcast best friends Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally made their Celebrity Gogglebox debut on Friday night (June 12), with Vogue revealing a detail she 'regrets' about her courtship with her now husband.

Vogue's Regret About Paying Her Way

The Irish model and TV presenter, 40, who is expecting their fourth child, snacked on sushi as the pair delivered their unfiltered opinions on the week's most talked-about television moments. It didn't take long before the duo turned their attention to the topic of gender roles – with Vogue making a candid admission about her marriage to Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews.

She told Joanne on the Channel 4 show: "When I got together with Spencer, I insisted on paying my way and it's one of my biggest regrets eight years on, paying 50% of everything." Joanne fired back with a brutal one-liner, replying: "You tried to make a point and you shot yourself in the feminist foot." Laughing, Vogue then admitted: "Listen, I didn't think I would be here eight years later [with him]" – only for Joanne to quip: "I don't think anyone did!"

Why Vogue Refuses to Take Spencer's Surname

Vogue also recently opened up about the real reason she has refused to adopt Spencer's surname throughout their eight-year marriage, following months of speculation surrounding their relationship. She made the forthright confession while discussing the former Made in Chelsea star's repeated requests for her to take his name. "Spenny always wants me to change my name to Matthews, and I'm like, mmm, I just feel like I have a track record, and it's very difficult to change your name," Vogue explained. "And then to change everything back."

The television personality was previously wed to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, 46, between 2012 and 2017. The ordeal of having to revert her name following their divorce has evidently had a lasting impact. "Also, I'm like, by the way, I love my name, Vogue Williams, and [Spencer]'s like, but you're not Vogue Williams, though," she continued. "That's actually true because I changed my name when I was 17."

Vogue's Legal Name Revealed

During the most recent episode of her podcast My Therapist Ghosted me, which she co-hosts alongside comedian and Celebrity Traitors star Joanne McNally, Vogue revealed she isn't technically Vogue Williams at all — legally, she goes by Vogue Wilson, having adopted her stepfather Neil Wilson's surname during her teenage years. "I am legally Wilson, but I use Williams because I was Williams when I was born," she explained. Vogue took on the surname Wilson at 17 following her mother Sandra's marriage to businessman Neil Wilson. Her biological father Freddie passed away in 2010.

Family Life with Spencer Matthews

Despite her hesitance to adopt yet another new surname, Vogue confirmed that her three children with Spencer, 37 — Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, four — all bear the Matthews name. The pair first crossed paths while filming Channel 4's The Jump in Austria in January 2017. Although Vogue initially believed Spencer was "a sociopath" due to his Made In Chelsea playboy image, love swiftly developed between them. Spencer popped the question during a performance of The Lion King in February 2018, and the couple tied the knot at his family's Glen Affric Estate in Scotland that June.

Celebrity Gogglebox is available to watch on Channel 4.
