Vogue Williams and her podcast best friend Joanne McNally made their Celebrity Gogglebox debut on Friday, June 12, with Vogue disclosing a detail she "regrets" about her relationship with her now husband, Spencer Matthews.
Vogue Opens Up About Relationship Regret
The Irish model and television presenter, 40, who is expecting their fourth child, enjoyed sushi while the pair shared their candid views on the week's most discussed television programmes. It didn't take long before the duo addressed the subject of gender roles – with Vogue making a frank confession about her marriage to Made in Chelsea star Spencer.
She told Joanne on the Channel 4 show: "When I got together with Spencer, I insisted on paying my way and it's one of my biggest regrets eight years on, paying 50% of everything." Joanne responded with a sharp one-liner, replying: "You tried to make a point and you shot yourself in the feminist foot."
Vogue's Candid Admission
Laughing, Vogue then admitted: "Listen, I didn't think I would be here eight years later [with him]" – only for Joanne to quip: "I don't think anyone did!"
Vogue's Decision to Keep Her Maiden Name
Vogue also recently revealed the genuine reason she has declined to take Spencer's surname throughout their eight-year marriage, following months of speculation surrounding their relationship. She made the candid admission while discussing the former Made in Chelsea star's persistent requests for her to adopt his surname.
"Spenny always wants me to change my name to Matthews, and I'm like, mmm, I just feel like I have a track record, and it's very difficult to change your name," Vogue explained. "And then to change everything back."
The television personality was previously married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, 46, between 2012 and 2017. The hassle of reverting her name following their divorce has clearly left a lasting impression.
"Also, I'm like, by the way, I love my name, Vogue Williams, and [Spencer]'s like, but you're not Vogue Williams, though," she continued. "That's actually true because I changed my name when I was 17."
Legal Name Revealed
During the latest episode of her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, which she co-hosts with comedian and Celebrity Traitors star Joanne McNally, Vogue disclosed she isn't technically Vogue Williams at all — legally, she goes by Vogue Wilson, having taken her stepfather Neil Wilson's surname during her teenage years.
"I am legally Wilson, but I use Williams because I was Williams when I was born," she explained. Vogue assumed the surname Wilson at 17 following her mother Sandra's marriage to businessman Neil Wilson. Her biological father Freddie died in 2010.
Family Life with Spencer Matthews
Despite her reluctance to take on yet another new surname, Vogue confirmed that her three children with Spencer, 37 - Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, four - all carry the Matthews name. The pair first met while filming Channel 4's The Jump in Austria in January 2017. Although Vogue initially considered Spencer to be "a sociopath" owing to his Made In Chelsea playboy reputation, romance quickly blossomed between them.
Spencer got down on one knee during a performance of The Lion King in February 2018, and the couple exchanged vows at his family's Glen Affric Estate in Scotland that June.
