Vogue Williams and Joe Wicks Crowned Champions of Celebrity Gladiators

Presenter Vogue Williams and fitness coach Joe Wicks have been crowned the winners of the BBC One celebrity special of Gladiators. The festive episode aired on Christmas Day, featuring two male and two female contenders taking on the show's elite athletes in a series of physical challenges.

Williams narrowly defeated boxing star Nicola Adams by two-hundredths of a second in the final course. 'I honestly cannot believe it, I've had the best day ever,' Williams said. 'The crowd when I was doing so badly were so nice to me, so thank you.'

Adams attributed her loss to an awkward landing on the zipline. 'I came down on the zipline and landed funny on my ankle and I just couldn't get it going again,' the Olympic gold medallist explained.

Wicks triumphed over presenter Sam Thompson in the men's final. 'Even though I had a bit of a breather, I still found that travelator hard. It's much harder doing it in real life than watching it on TV,' Wicks said. 'I'm really chuffed that I won, but I have to say Sam has been an amazing partner.'

Despite his defeat, Thompson remained upbeat, referring to himself by his self-appointed Gladiator name: 'El Cockroacho, baby - you can't stamp him out!'
