Viola Davis Celebrates 60th Birthday with Sun-Soaked Mexican Getaway

Viola Davis marked her 60th birthday with a lavish trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, joined by her husband Julius Tennon and other loved ones. The actress and her party stayed in a private villa featuring a large dining room, white accent furniture, an infinity pool, and lush gardens, providing the perfect setting for celebrations.

Davis shared photos of herself in a green swimsuit, sunglasses, and a head-wrap, relaxing in the pool with Tennon. 'Best-kept secret? 60 is fabulous! I couldn't feel any more blessed or loved,' she wrote on social media. 'Sixty years of love, lessons, and living with my whole heart.'

The birthday festivities included a large cake, singing and dancing through the night, and multiple dips in the pool. Fellow celebrities such as Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Padma Lakshmi, and Reese Witherspoon sent their congratulations online.

In a recent interview with People, Davis reflected on turning 60, saying she honours her inner child, whom she calls her 'GPS'. 'My purpose is not just what I do, it's what happens to people when I do what I do,' she explained. She also emphasised the importance of her family, including her daughter Genesis, and her desire to be remembered as someone proficient.

Davis, an EGOT winner, recently received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the AFI Conservatory. In her commencement speech, she urged graduates to 'be healers, to be alchemists, to buck the system' and to leave something in people, not just for them.
