Victoria Beckham has revealed that severe acne made her feel "so uncomfortable" during her time with the Spice Girls, leading her to cut out meat and wheat from her diet. The 51-year-old former Posh Spice told The Telegraph that her skin issues were the reason she often looked stern in photographs.
Beckham, who now uses cassava flour instead of wheat, has maintained a strict diet that her husband David described as consisting mainly of "grilled fish and steamed vegetables". She also spends 30 minutes each morning using a Dermalux light therapy device, though experts question its effectiveness for at-home use.
Acne affects many adults due to hormonal imbalances, medications, and genetic factors. Dermatologist Dr Justine Kluk advises that while cutting sugary foods and refined carbohydrates can help, there is no universal solution. Beckham has tried numerous treatments including LED lights and dermaplaning.
Now confident in her skin, Beckham has launched her own skincare brand, VB Beauty, and has adopted a more minimal makeup look. She recently attended a red carpet event wearing only concealer and no foundation, something she previously thought impossible. The entire Beckham family, including daughter Harper and husband David, have tested her products, with David reportedly becoming a regular user of her Portofino hand cream.
