Victoria Beckham has opened up about her discomfort with fame, admitting that red carpets make her feel 'exposed and vulnerable'. The former Spice Girl turned fashion designer spoke to Claudia Winkleman for an exclusive interview in Sunday Times Style Magazine.
Beckham, 42, confessed she cannot be herself at celebrity events. 'I don't know if it's the years of being photographed and the criticism, but I just feel exposed and vulnerable and uncomfortable, and I can't be myself,' she said. 'I can't wait till I'm off it and we can all just have a drink, throw our heads back, and who cares if your lip gloss has worn off? You can relax.'
The style icon also revealed she is a 'control freak' and a 'workaholic', preferring to do things herself. However, she acknowledged her position as boss allows flexibility, such as coming in late after sports day. She explained that she only attends red carpet events for work or charity, not for fun.
Beckham noted that she loves social media because she can control the imagery and present what she hopes is the 'real Victoria' to fans. The interview comes as she continues to lead her major fashion brand, aiming to appear professional in all public appearances.
