Reality television star Vicky Pattison has emotionally recounted the terrifying mid-air ordeal that turned her dream Maldives honeymoon into a nightmare, confessing she genuinely feared for her life during severe turbulence.
The former Geordie Shore personality, who married Erminio 'Kai' Fennell in a lavish Northumberland ceremony last year, described the flight experience as "the worst turbulence I have ever experienced in my life" during a candid Instagram Q&A session with her 5.4 million followers.
'I Was Properly Scared'
"I thought I was going to die," the 36-year-old confessed with startling honesty. "I've been on a lot of planes in my time and experienced my fair share of turbulence, but this was something else entirely. I was properly scared."
Pattison went on to describe the harrowing moments when the aircraft began violently shaking, sending both her and new husband Kai into a state of panic. The newlyweds were travelling to the luxurious Maldives for their post-wedding getaway when the incident occurred.
Honeymoon Highs and Lows
Despite the traumatic journey, the couple managed to salvage their romantic escape once they safely reached their tropical destination. "Thankfully, the honeymoon itself was absolutely incredible once we got there," Pattison reassured her concerned followers.
The television personality, who found fame on MTV's Geordie Shore before winning I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2015, has been open about her relationship journey with businessman Kai Fennell. The couple tied the knot in June 2023 at Matfen Hall in a ceremony described as "utterly perfect" by the bride.
Overcoming Travel Anxiety
The frightening experience has left a lasting impact on Pattison, who admitted the turbulence has affected her confidence when flying. "It's definitely made me more nervous about future flights," she revealed.
This isn't the first time Pattison has spoken openly about mental health and anxiety struggles, having previously discussed her battles with panic attacks and body image issues in her bestselling autobiography.
The couple's Maldives getaway featured the typical honeymoon luxuries - pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and romantic dinners - providing the perfect backdrop for the newlyweds to create cherished memories after their dramatic journey.
