Vicky Pattison spent a day volunteering at two Newcastle charities, visiting Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter and The People's Kitchen. The TV presenter, known for winning I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, made the visits during a trip to Newcastle that also included time in Eldon Square.

Visit to Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

Pattison visited the shelter's Benton site, bringing treats, toys and blankets for the animals ahead of the charity's Christmas Appeal launch. She met some of the dogs and cats currently waiting for their forever homes, showering them with attention and cuddles while learning more about the care they receive.

Emma Crowe, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, said: "Vicky is such an incredible ambassador for us, and we're so grateful for the continued support she gives to the Shelter. It's clear how much she loves animals, and it was lovely to welcome her back to spend time with some of our dogs and cats."

Crowe added: "She arrived with treats, toys and blankets for the animals and made sure they all received plenty of attention and love. Having someone like Vicky supporting our work makes such a difference in helping us reach more people and raise awareness of the animals who need our help."

Christmas Appeal and The Big Winter Wish

The shelter is preparing to launch its Christmas Appeal, The Big Winter Wish, on Friday 20th November. Celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter is hoping to raise £130,000 through the appeal to help provide for dogs and cats in need across the North East.

The Big Winter Wish aims to highlight the stories of animals who have needed the Shelter's help, from abandoned and neglected pets to those requiring urgent veterinary treatment and rehabilitation. The Shelter said they hope Pattison's support will encourage people across the region to get behind the appeal.

Shift at The People's Kitchen

Pattison ended the day with a visit to The People's Kitchen, providing hot food for those who need it. She captioned a story on Instagram: "Last stop of the day... chucking in a shift with my People's Kitchen family!!! Bringing hot meals and a sense of community to those affected by food poverty and homelessness in Newcastle for over 40 years..."

The visit saw the TV personality serve meals on one of the colder nights of the year so far. Vicky often volunteers in the lead-up to the festive season as the nights close in and get colder.

Maggie Pavlou, Trustee of the People's Kitchen, said: "It's always great when someone can help us to brighten the day for our friends, and Vicky is always such a bundle of positive energy with her infectious smile whenever she is able to come in. We are very grateful for her continued support."

The People's Kitchen is preparing for Christmas with their Feed a Friend for a Fiver campaign, which aims to help ensure people who need a warm meal nearer Christmas will be able to get one.
