Vicky Pattison has revealed she plans to include her late grandfather's name when naming a future son, sharing an emotional message in a video for the Alzheimer's Society. The Geordie TV star, author, podcaster, and radio presenter dedicated the message to her grandad David, who died in 2022 after living with dementia for several years.
Memory Box Tribute
In the video, published on the charity's TikTok channel as part of its 'Forget Me Not Appeal', Vicky visits the Alzheimer's Society Memory Box – a specially designed phone box where visitors can leave messages for loved ones living with dementia or those they have lost to the condition. Her message reflects on key life moments her grandad missed, including meeting her husband Ercan, whom she married in 2024.
"All you ever wanted was for me to find someone lovely and nice, who loves me. He does both of those things. He reminds me so much of you," Vicky said. She added with a lighthearted note: "And he loves his sport. Oh my God, youse would talk about football non-stop. I'm really sorry to tell you this but he is a Chelsea fan but he's got lots of other good qualities, I promise."
Plans for Future Child
Vicky also revealed plans to honour her grandad if she has a son, saying she will include 'David' in his name. This follows her recent documentary Vicky Pattison: Maybe, Baby? which explored her fertility journey with Ercan. "Hopefully he might grow up to be like you," she said. In a final message to the "man who meant the world" to her, Vicky tearfully said: "I love you and I miss you."
Alzheimer's Society Campaign
The video is part of the Alzheimer's Society's Forget Me Not Appeal, which runs throughout June to help fund life-changing support and groundbreaking dementia research. The charity encourages donations and wearing a Forget Me Not badge to help beat dementia. More information is available at alzheimers.org.uk/forgetmenotappeal.
