Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison has been sentenced for assault after hurling her shoes at a woman during a bar brawl in Newcastle. The 25-year-old, of Wallsend, North Tyneside, lashed out at Florita's Bar in July last year, mistakenly believing victim Hannah Kelso had thrown ice at her.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that Pattison began arguing with Ms Kelso, 18, and threw her shoes when security staff tried to pull her away. The blow to Ms Kelso's face caused a cut requiring four stitches. CCTV later showed neither she nor her friends had thrown the ice.
Pattison admitted two counts of assault. She was ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work, pay £4,000 compensation to Ms Kelso, £750 to a staff member whose lip she cut, and £1,500 court costs. Judge Brian Forster QC said she would not go to jail.
The court was told Pattison had drunk '10 pints of alcohol and shots of spirits' before the attack, though her defence lawyer said she denied that amount but accepted drinking 'a considerable amount'. Judge Forster said she got drunk because of a relationship breakdown and reacted angrily to the ice being thrown.
Defence barrister Anthony O'Donohue said Pattison was taking steps to address her behaviour. Judge Forster accepted she felt genuine remorse and gave her credit for her early guilty pleas.
