Professional skater and Dancing on Ice favourite Vanessa Bauer has announced her engagement to football agent James Rowe. The proposal took place on 2 December on a frozen lake in the Canadian Rockies, with the couple sharing the news exclusively with OK! magazine.
Bauer, 29, described the moment as a dream, having always wanted to skate on frozen lakes. The pair were treated to a vibrant orange sunset during the proposal, which she described as a blessing from nature, adding that she felt the presence of her late father Marco, who died in 2021.
Rowe, 34, a former professional footballer, revealed he had been planning the proposal for a year, keeping it secret by deleting evidence from his phone. He proposed with an old mine diamond cushion cut ring set in a gold band, which Bauer said fitted perfectly.
The couple spent the evening at the Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise. Rowe had recently taken up skating to join Bauer on the ice, crediting her as the best teacher. They met in September 2024 after he messaged her on Instagram, and they now live together in Hertfordshire. They plan to marry within the next twelve months.
