Tyrone Dobbs is about to have his world turned upside down once again, this time by his own daughters. In upcoming Coronation Street episodes, Hope Stape and Ruby Dobbs drop a bombshell: they have found Tyrone's long-lost father.
A Year of Turmoil for Tyrone
The beloved mechanic has endured a traumatic year. A hit-and-run caused by Carl Webster left him with life-changing injuries and confined to a wheelchair. His recovery strained his marriage to Fiz, though she, along with their daughters and his mother Cassie Plummer, helped him turn a corner. More recently, Tyrone was implicated in the murder of Theo Silverton, but after Summer Spellman hospitalised herself, he confessed to seeing Theo alive on the night of his death, clearing Summer's name.
The DNA Surprise
Now, just as that drama subsides, Hope and Ruby reveal they sent off a sample of Tyrone's DNA and have located his biological father. Cassie clocks the girls engrossed in an email on Hope's phone, but they refuse to be drawn, insisting it's a surprise for Tyrone. Fiz senses they are up to something when they let themselves into the house expecting it to be empty.
Who Is Ross Plummer?
Earlier this year, Coronation Street teased the arrival of Tyrone's long-lost father Ross, played by veteran actor Ian Burfield, known for roles in EastEnders and The Bill. His debut coincides with Cassie Plummer's exit. Show boss Kate Brooks said: 'He comes into the world of Fiz and Tyrone. Tyrone's in the mindset of I'm in my 20s, I've survived this long without a dad. The dad is very keen to connect with Tyrone. It's not long before the dad makes eyes at one of the residents, and maybe a bit of a relationship starts there.'
Cassie's Reaction
Cassie, who abandoned Tyrone at a police station as a baby and only recently re-entered his life, is not happy about Ross's return. Brooks added: 'Cassie is, needless to say, not happy that this guy has turned back up.'
