Rod Liddle, the columnist and broadcaster who edited BBC Radio 4's Today, has died aged 66 after a "short illness", News UK has said.
The 66-year-old presented BBC Two's Weekend and BBC Four's The Talk Show, and previously appeared on Come Dine With Me alongside Edwina Currie, Derek Hatton and Brian Paddick.
Career
Liddle began at the South Wales Echo before working for the Labour Party. At the time of his death, he was working for The Sunday Times, The Spectator and The Sun.
Family statement
His children, Wilder, Tyler and Emmy, said: "We’re all very saddened and shocked at the sudden passing of our wonderful father. He raised us much as you might imagine, to be inquisitive, brave and always humourous."
"Even in hospital in the last few weeks, he consistently held the room and never let the awful situation show. He has left a legacy that we are all incredibly proud of, he will always be our guide on how to live an extraordinary life."
