Trump trolls Taylor Swift on wedding day with White House X post

The official White House X account took a swipe at Taylor Swift on her wedding day, reigniting Donald Trump's long-running feud with the pop star just minutes after she married NFL star Travis Kelce.

Taylor and Travis, both 36, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Friday (July 3) with more than 1,000 guests watching the couple exchange vows. As celebrations got underway, giant pink screens outside the iconic venue lit up with the message: 'JUST&TMARRIED.'

White House posts parody wedding announcement

But the joyful moment was quickly overshadowed online after the official White House X account shared a parody of the announcement. 'IT'S HAPPENED!!!' the White House wrote alongside an AI-generated image replacing the wedding message with pink billboards reading: 'Trump is your president.'

According to reports, the post was uploaded just moments after the couple had said 'I do,' reviving the US president's public spat with the global superstar.

Previous swipe during wedding weekend

It was not the first time the administration took a swipe at Taylor during her wedding weekend. Late on Thursday (July 2), the official White House X account shared a graphic titled 'American's Eras tour,' featuring a montage of photos of Trump alongside pivotal moments in American history. The image placed Trump at the centre of a collage featuring former US presidents including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, alongside historic moments such as the moon landing and the building of the Empire State Building. The caption read: 'It's been a long time coming...' a reference to a lyric from Taylor's song Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince.

Trump's history of feuding with Taylor Swift

The social media posts were the latest twist in Trump's rocky relationship with the singer. When Taylor and Travis announced their engagement in August 2025, Trump sounded more upbeat. Speaking to reporters at the time, Trump said: 'I think he's a great player, I think he's a great guy, and I think that she's a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.'

But that came after years of him taking swipes at Taylor, especially after she backed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Trump responded by posting in capital letters: 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!' He later warned that the singer would 'pay a price for it in the marketplace' for backing his political rival. He then continued to mock the singer on social media, taking to his platform Truth Social in 2025 to publicly ask his followers: 'Has anyone noticed that, since I said "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT," she's no longer HOT?'

Ceremony details kept under wraps

Despite the online swipes from Trump, the duo kept details of the ceremony firmly under wraps in the lead-up to the big day. There was a notable lack of social media posts from guests once they entered Madison Square Garden. Among those in attendance were singer Camila Cabello, actors Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke and Jason Sudeikis, and model Karlie Kloss.
