Trump Ushered Away After Attempting to Crash Celebrations
After the US president presented Spain with the trophy, he attempted to stand with the team at the side of the podium as they celebrated, before Infantino quietly ushered him away. It was a repeat of last summer's Club World Cup at the same stadium, when Trump presented the trophy to champions Chelsea and tried to crash the celebrations, to the bemusement of the players.
The booing was audible as both Trump and Infantino were introduced on the pitch. The incident has drawn widespread attention, highlighting the unpopularity of both figures among football fans. Trump's attempted intrusion into the team's celebration was met with awkwardness from the Spanish players, who continued their festivities seemingly ignoring the president.
