Critics of Donald Trump have seized on rumours that he wears nappies after a photo emerged appearing to show one of his aides carrying a bag of disposable underwear.
The 80 year old president has been the subject of numerous whispers about potential health issues during his second term, following unexplained bruising on his hands, alleged signs of incontinence, and most notably, falling asleep at several events, including the funeral of late South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham.
Aide’s bag sparks speculation
Now, following images showing aide Natalie Harp accompanying him to the funeral instead of First Lady Melania Trump, another photo of Harp is causing a stir for what detractors of the president believe she is holding. In the photo, Harp is seen walking in a charcoal grey dress and black jacket, clutching a large black bag that is open – and appears to be filled with several white items resembling towels or nappies.
The image also shows a man in military uniform walking behind her, holding another black briefcase in front of him – which also seems to be chained to Harp's bag, reports the Mirror US.
Social media reactions
Many were quick to jest that Harp – who has also earned nicknames as his "nurse," was carrying Trump's "nappy bag" in the image. "Donald Trump's aide aka nurse carrying around a nappy bag full of depends," one person posted on X (formerly Twitter). "They're not even trying to hide it anymore."
"It's a s--t job but somebody has to do it," a second quipped, while a third said, "Those are just towels. She's going swimming later." IDK could be a bib. The man appears to drool a fair bit during his naps," a fourth observed.
Nuclear codes chain questioned
Some suggested that the other bag seemed to contain the nuclear codes, leading to questions about why it would be chained to a bag of nappies. "Why is the nuclear football chained to the nappy bag?" one person queried, while another asked, "Are his nappies shackled to the nuclear codes?"
Others criticised the original post, suggesting that it appeared to have been doctored from an original image featuring Harp and Margo Martin, another aide to Trump. "That pic looks a bit dodgy. Not a good job of photoshopping," one person commented, while a second wrote, "Your AI software did some real weird s--t to this woman's hand. Just sayin'."
Another defended the image by also highlighting the bag with the nuclear codes, stating that they were unlikely to be attached to something as crucial as the nuclear codes. "Do you not know what it's attached to? Maybe you don't know WTF you are talking about!" they retorted.
Health concerns persist
Concerns about Trump's health have been widespread throughout his second term, particularly after he was seen nodding off at several high-profile events – including Graham's funeral and the recent White House Correspondents' Dinner.
