Influencer Baby Names Spark Debate as Unusual Monikers Trend Online

From 'Lyrics' to 'Orca' and 'Alchemy', influencers are increasingly giving their children unconventional names, sparking widespread discussion on social media. The trend, highlighted by figures like Too Hot To Handle star Francesca Farago and TikTok creator Nara Smith, has drawn both celebration and criticism from online audiences.

Farago recently shared potential baby names with her followers, including 'Lovely', 'Baby', and months like 'November' (nickname 'Novi'), while ruling out days of the week as too popular. Nara Smith, known for her 'trad wife' content, has named her children Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou, further fuelling the debate over influencer naming choices.

Baby name consultant Jessie, who has over 100,000 TikTok followers, suggests these names may be chosen to build a personal brand for the child. 'In this new age of baby names, people are trying to set their kids up for a brand, to create their own personal brand,' she told The Independent. 'They give them names that will stand out in an Instagram handle.'

While unique names are not new—celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow (Apple) and Elon Musk (X Æ A-12) have set precedents—critics worry that influencer children may face challenges as they grow up outside the spotlight. The trend reflects a shift from traditional family names to those designed for online visibility.
