Trevor Nelson Takes Break from BBC Radio 2 for Medical Tests
Trevor Nelson Steps Back from BBC Radio 2 for Health

BBC Radio 2 DJ Trevor Nelson has announced he is stepping away from his show after a routine check-up prompted follow-up medical tests. The 62-year-old presenter shared the news with fans on Instagram, stating he needs time off to focus on his health.

Announcement and Reason

In his Instagram post, Nelson said: "I wanted to let my followers, radio listeners and all my Soul Nation party-people know that I'm going to be taking a little break from my work commitments. After a routine check-up I was advised to have some follow up tests. As a result, I will be taking some further time off." He emphasized his goal is to return "back to 100%".

Support from BBC

Lorna Clarke, the BBC's director of music, wished Nelson "a very speedy recovery" and expressed anticipation for his return. The broadcaster has not announced a replacement host for his show during his absence.

Recent Honor and Upcoming Broadcast

Just this week, Nelson received a special award at the TRIC Awards ceremony, recognizing his three-decade career with the BBC. Despite his break, listeners can still hear him on Sunday night as he presents The Music is Black concert from Hackney Empire, which was pre-recorded last month on BBC Radio 2.
