Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has been seen celebrating her birthday, just days after she shared a tearful update on her cancer journey. The actress, best known for playing Maxine Peacock from 1995 to 2003, turned 53 on Monday (July 27).
Cancer Journey Update
Shaw revealed in April that she would need five months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been documenting her treatment on social media. Last week, she told followers she was due for scans on Thursday (July 23) to check if the disease had shrunk.
After the ultrasound, Shaw posted an emotional video from the hospital. She explained that a lump found on her right breast turned out to be cysts—good news. However, the lesions on her left breast had not shrunk; they went from circular to oval. Fighting tears, she said: 'I don't know what I was expecting. I think I'm just expecting some results of what I felt... maybe a few more rounds will be all it takes. But I know they can't operate until they shrink it.' She added: 'I was just expecting some miraculous miracle. Or maybe it's to come.'
Birthday Celebration
In a follow-up video over the weekend, Shaw said doctors would likely adjust her chemo treatment. Visibly struggling, she admitted she was 'really at a stage where I'm just crying a lot really' and heartbreakingly shared: 'This morning I just realised how invisible we become.'
Despite the difficult updates, Shaw marked her 53rd birthday with a string of smiling Instagram photos alongside her brother and son. She wrote: '53, & grateful. Visit from my brother, Karl Shaw. Luca just back from Truck festival... Never been as grateful to be alive on a birthday. Looking forward to next years celebration #humbled #birthday #grateful.'
