Inquest Details Discovery of TOWIE Star's Body in Thailand
An inquest held in Chelmsford has disclosed that Jordan Wright, a former cast member of the reality television show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), was found dead in a drainage ditch in Thailand. The 33-year-old, originally from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex, was discovered on March 14 of this year in Phuket province, with his death subsequently confirmed.
Location and Circumstances of the Discovery
Court co-ordinator Matthew Austin informed the inquest that Wright had been spending time in Thailand when he was located in a drainage ditch off Bang Thao 2 Alley, within the Choeng Thale sub-district of Thalang district, Phuket province. The exact circumstances leading to his presence there remain unclear as the investigation continues.
Post-Mortem and Ongoing Investigations
Following his repatriation to Essex, a post-mortem examination was conducted at Basildon Hospital. The initial findings have recorded his cause of death as awaiting toxicology results, indicating that vital information from tests performed in Thailand is still pending. This suggests that further analysis is required to determine the factors contributing to his untimely demise.
Tributes and Statements from Associates
In response to the tragic news, a spokesperson for TOWIE issued a statement expressing deep sympathies to Wright's family and friends. Tributes also poured in on social media, particularly in the comment section of his last Instagram post. Fellow TOWIE star Chloe Brockett wrote, "Rest in peace Jordan," while Liam "Gatsby" Blackwell, another reality programme alumnus, added, "Miss you already, brother. Glad I got to see you in Thailand a couple of months ago. Big love to all your Family."
Foreign Office Involvement and Support
A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office confirmed that they are providing support to the family of the British man who died in Thailand and are maintaining contact with local authorities. This involvement underscores the international aspects of the case, as authorities collaborate to gather all necessary information.
The inquest has adjourned pending the completion of the toxicology report, which is expected to shed more light on the events leading to Jordan Wright's death. As the community mourns his loss, further updates are anticipated once all investigative procedures are finalized.
