Australian actress Toni Collette described making her latest film Miss You Already as one of the “best experiences” of her life. Collette, 42, was in London for the premiere at Leicester Square, where she walked the pink carpet with co-star Drew Barrymore.
The Hitchcock actress, all smiles alongside Barrymore, said of the film: “It’s so exciting to share the film with the people of London since we made it here and it’s so dear to us and we had a bloody great time. It was one of the best experiences of my life – not just my working life – and I’m so proud and honoured to be a part of it.”
Barrymore, 40, told fans she feels “lucky” to be able to show the film to her two daughters, Frankie and Olive. “I got to act as someone who is the definition of what respect means to me. We got to tell this story which is this messy, beautiful, amazing, honest, dark, truthful, incredible story. I feel so lucky that one day I can show this film to my daughters and say 'Look at this story that’s so representative of life',” she said.
Barrymore plays Jess, whose friend Millie (Collette) is diagnosed with breast cancer. Collette recently revealed she shaved her head to ensure the film was as authentic as possible. Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, she said: “We did not want to misrepresent the experience at all. Everybody else was concerned about how intense it would be for me I was given a bottle of vodka beforehand but I’d shaved my head five times so it feels quite wonderful. I would have done anything for this movie I loved it so much.”
Also in attendance at the premiere were stars Dominic Cooper, Paddy Considine, and Jacqueline Bissett, as well as Paloma Faith, who turned heads in a red mini dress and heels.
