Tom Kerridge names 'favourite' high street restaurant after date night with wife

Renowned chef Tom Kerridge has confessed that while he generally avoids high street restaurant chains, he does have a soft spot for one popular fast food outlet. Speaking on Russell Howard's podcast, the 52-year-old Michelin-starred chef admitted he often enjoys a meal at Nando's.

Kerridge, who grew up in Gloucester, revealed that a trip to Nando's in High Wycombe has become a regular date night activity for him and his wife. 'We go for a cheeky Nando's and then a movie. That was a date night out, yeah, Nando's High Wycombe,' he said.

The chef also highlighted the anonymity that comes with dining at the chain, stating: 'You go to Nando's, no-one knows who you are, no-one cares. They're not looking at who are the Michelin-starred chefs in Nando's.'

Beyond his personal preferences, Kerridge has been vocal about the challenges facing the hospitality industry, including the cost-of-living and energy crises. He emphasised the importance of his staff, describing a pot washer as 'the beating heart' of his business in an earlier interview with the Guardian.
