Tom Holland has finally spoken out about the persistent rumours linking him to the role of James Bond. In a conversation with chef Gordon Ramsay for his Scrambled series, the Spider-Man star addressed the speculation that he might succeed Daniel Craig as 007.
When asked about the possibility, Holland said: 'We'll keep it to a minimum for now. We'll get there one day.' He acknowledged that playing Bond is a dream for many young British actors, calling it 'the pinnacle of working in our industry.'
Holland also expressed gratitude for his career, stating: 'I already consider myself to be the luckiest kid alive. I could not have dreamed to have the career that I have.' The actor recently took a hiatus following his emotionally taxing role in The Crowded Room.
According to reports, if Holland were cast, he would star in the upcoming Bond film directed by Denis Villeneuve, with a script by Peaky Blinders' Steven Knight. The speculation has been fuelled by Amazon's creative control of the franchise, which is said to favour younger actors, and the involvement of Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal, who is co-producing the new 007 film.
However, there has been no official confirmation that Holland is in contention for the role. The actor is set to appear in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and will reprise his role in the fourth Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day.
