Olympic diving champion Tom Daley has opened up about the challenges of appearing on the BBC's Celebrity Traitors, admitting that being known to fellow contestants made the game particularly tough. The 31-year-old was among the first celebrities eliminated from the series, which features famous faces for the first time.
Daley told Metro that the celebrity version differed from previous seasons because the players already had preconceived ideas about each other. He explained that there was “no chance of changing people’s first impression,” which made it hard to be seen as anything other than a competitive sportsperson. “People already have some kind of idea of how you might play the game,” he said.
The star, who shares two children with husband Dustin Lance Black, has been eliminated alongside Paloma Faith, Niko Omilana, and Tameka Empson. Faith was killed off by Traitor Alan Carr, who touched her face after rubbing a deadly flower – a move that surprised viewers given their real-life friendship. Omilana and Empson were banished after tense roundtables where Faithfuls mistakenly identified them as Traitors.
Despite his early exit, Daley expressed a desire to return to Ardross Castle for another chance. “I’m ready for my invite,” he said, adding that his “inbox is open.” The current series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, features Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, and Cat Burns as Traitors.
