Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda, has made his first Reddit post in years, revealing that he reads fan posts for ideas. In a comment on Bethesda's recent announcement, Howard wrote: "Hey Reddit. I'm a professional lurker and read your comments all the time."
Bethesda's Big Reveal
Last week, Bethesda disclosed several upcoming projects: Fallout 5 is in pre-production, remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas are underway, and a new Fallout project is being developed at Obsidian. This open communication marks a shift for the usually secretive company.
Howard's Reddit post stated: "Today's info was an attempt at changing that and letting everyone know what we've been working on the past several years, and a look at what's coming." He added: "So know we're constantly listening and keep telling us how to be even better. You'd be surprised how many great ideas I get from Reddit. So upvote your favorite and we'll do it. Maybe."
Fan Reactions and Oblivion Remaster
Fans quickly responded with suggestions, many focusing on the Oblivion remaster released last April. One top comment read: "Please get Virtuous to keep patching Oblivion and give it as much love as you guys gave Skyrim, because it feels abandoned right now which is a shame." Another fan expressed hope that the Fallout remasters would perform better technically than the Oblivion remaster, which has issues with stuttering and frame rate slowdowns.
No release dates have been announced for the Fallout remasters. They may surface around the launch of Fallout 76's prequel expansion 'Raven Rock' in 2027 and the third season of the Fallout TV show.
