Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) have announced they are leaving Weatherfield behind in tonight's episode of Coronation Street. While celebrating Christina Boyd's (Amy Robbins) birthday in the Rovers, they told George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) they had booked a trip to visit Eileen and Jason Grimshaw in Thailand.
Todd reveals what he did with Theo's insurance money
Todd had received the money from Theo's life insurance that morning. George told him the holiday was a good use of it, but Todd corrected him, explaining the money hadn't gone towards the holiday. Because of how Theo had abused him and then been killed by Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), Todd saw the insurance pay-out as blood money and didn't want anything to do with it. He decided to give the whole lot to Theo's kids.
Christina's misconception causes tension
Christina, who has been having serious cash flow issues due to her shopping addiction, assumed Todd would give the money to her and George. When she began to thank a confused Todd for his generosity, George had to explain her misconception. Todd felt guilty about his decision, though George assured him he had no reason to.
