Tina Malone, best known for playing Mimi Maguire in Channel 4's Shameless, has shared a poignant tribute to her husband Paul Chase, who died last month at the age of 42. The 61-year-old actress described the day of his death as the 'worst day of my entire life', posting on social media that her 'world fell apart'.
In a series of emotional posts, Malone recounted the final hours she spent with Chase at home. She wrote that he made scrambled eggs, bacon, beans and sausages for their daughter Flame, kissed her and said 'see you later'. '10 hours later he was dead,' she added. 'I am broken, so bereft.'
The couple married in 2010 and welcomed Flame in 2013, when Malone was 50. They separated after nine years but reconciled in February 2020, describing themselves as 'happier than ever'. Chase's funeral took place in Liverpool, with family, friends and members of his regiment in attendance. Malone, dressed in mourning attire, led the procession.
Fans offered condolences, with one saying: 'So sorry for your loss. Heartbreaking news condolences to you and your family.' Another added: 'Sending you and Flame big hugs Tina. When you did interviews you both came across so down to earth and relatable.'
The cause of Chase's death has not been disclosed. Malone, who also appeared in Brookside, has thanked supporters for their kindness since his passing on March 13.
