He fully revealed the new look in an Instagram livestream to promote his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, in which he plays professional table tennis player Marty Mauser. In the video, Chalamet stood in a clear box surrounded by orange ping-pong balls before removing a headpiece to display his shorn head. The clip ended with a reminder that the film hits UK cinemas on Christmas Day.
Fan reactions on social media were mixed. One X user joked the actor looked "about to enlist in the Marine Corps," while another wrote he resembled someone "about to drop the most emotional techno album of the year." The haircut debut came shortly after the surprise world premiere of Marty Supreme at the New York Film Festival on Monday, which garnered early positive reviews.
