Timothée Chalamet has shocked fans by unveiling a dramatic buzz cut during an Instagram Live promoting his upcoming film Marty Supreme. The actor, known for his trademark tousled hair, appeared in a clear box surrounded by orange ping-pong balls before removing a headpiece to reveal his shaved head.
The 29-year-old was first spotted with the new look while filming in Manhattan's Chinatown on Tuesday, dressed casually in a navy sweatshirt, jeans and a blue cap. The Instagram Live, part of the film's marketing campaign, ended with Chalamet solemnly saying the title and release date: Christmas Day.
Fans reacted swiftly on social media, with comments ranging from surprise to humour. One wrote on X: 'Almost doesn't look like him,' while another joked: 'Open Instagram and Timothée Chalamet is live and bald.' A third quipped: 'This haircut screams “I make playlists about feelings.”'
Chalamet had kept the buzzcut hidden for months, wearing hats in public. At the New York Film Festival on October 6, he wore a black baseball cap. Earlier in the summer, he was seen with a green bandana in Saint-Tropez with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, and a camo cap at a Premier League match in London.
With Dune: Part Three reportedly beginning filming in July, it is widely believed Chalamet shaved his head for the role.
