Strictly Come Dancing star Thomas Skinner has revealed he received death threats after meeting US Vice President JD Vance. The 34-year-old, who rose to fame on The Apprentice in 2019, met Vance for a barbecue and drinks before posting a photo online.
Skinner told The Sun: 'Since I posted that picture I’ve had loads of death threats. People saying they want me dead, saying I am this political figure that I’m actually not.' He added that he has been targeted by both left and right on social media, despite not considering himself political.
Reflecting on the meeting, Skinner described Vance as 'a normal bloke' who discussed English cheese, West Ham United, and the term 'soccer'. The pair met at a pub in the Cotswolds, which was closed to the public for security reasons. Skinner joked that he might be invited to a barbecue if Donald Trump visits.
Despite the backlash, Skinner said he does not regret the meeting, calling it an 'amazing opportunity' to sit with the vice president of the United States. He maintained that his social media presence is about spreading positivity, not politics.
Skinner also apologised this week for walking out of a Strictly press event after picking up a journalist's phone, claiming he saw messages about his past on the device.
