Celebrity Apprentice viewers witnessed an emotional moment as Thomas Skinner broke down in the boardroom, only to be met with Lord Sugar's trademark wit. The 12 new contestants were introduced on the BBC show, with Sugar immediately questioning Skinner's celebrity status.
Addressing the returning candidate, who first appeared on The Apprentice in 2019, Sugar remarked: 'Since when did you get celebrity status?' He added: 'He was here as an ordinary candidate, now he's here on Celeb Apprentice, bit of a wheeler dealer. He sells Christmas cards on New Year's Day.'
When Skinner grew emotional, Karren Brady asked if he was crying. Skinner confessed: 'I don't get upset, really, it's just I didn't see this show six years ago, and it's changed my life, and I'm back here.' Sugar replied: 'It is exciting for me too, as you're the only candidate I might end up firing twice.'
The exchange sparked reactions on social media. One viewer wrote: 'Bless Thomas Skinner crying on the show - he's a good guy with a good heart and appreciates all the opportunities he's had from this show.' Another said: 'Bro gets his stuff taken out of context and just gets cooked randomly.'
The boardroom scene occurred as the line-up for the Celebrity Apprentice Christmas special was announced. Contestants included AJ Odudu, Angela Scanlon, Charlie Hedges, Eddie Kadi, Jake Wood, JB Gill, Kadeena Cox, Matt Morsia, Rob Rinder, Sarah Hadland and Shazia Mirza. The teams were tasked with crafting gingerbread biscuits, developing branding, filming adverts and composing a Christmas jingle in Lapland.
