Nicola Thorp announced she is expecting her second child during Friday's episode of This Morning, with co-stars Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary quick to congratulate her. The announcement came as the pair spoke to Nicola and Gyles Brandreth about the latest headlines on the ITV show (October 2).
As the segment was coming to an end, Alison addressed Nicola's recent baby news, prompting Nicola to tell her co-stars, "I'm pregnant." Dermot and Alison congratulated her over the joyful announcement.
Name Suggestions for the New Arrival
Gyles suggested Nicola should name her second child with a name beginning with the letter N, following Nicola, her husband and daughter all sharing the same initial. The trio then shared some ideas.
Alison initially suggested Nikki, before Dermot proposed Niamh, while Gyles liked the name Natalie, which could be shortened to Nat, reports the Mirror. Alison then told the panel that name suggestions could be submitted to the programme by This Morning audiences. Delighted by the prospect, Nicola added to ITV viewers that any names beginning with the letter N would be appreciated so she could keep her family tradition.
Nicola announced the joyful news on Instagram in September, sharing a string of images of herself showing off her growing bump.
Alison Hammond Leaves Studio Unwell
This comes just before chaos seemed to unfold on the ITV show as Alison rushed out of the studio during a phone-in with Dr Scott about pets at home. As Dr Scott spoke to one man via a video link, Alison came into view on the screen, holding her chest while Dermot walked her around the table.
The interview with the man continued, although viewers noticed those in the studio seemed distracted by something happening off-screen. After This Morning returned from a break, Dermot addressed Alison's absence from the show, commenting: "Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she's just had to duck out. Hopefully she'll be back."
He later told viewers that she would not be returning, saying: "Ali's feeling a little unwell, so I'll be here for the rest of the show." This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
