Tess Daly and Vernon Kay were spotted together this week in a surprise reunion, weeks after announcing their divorce. The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 57, was promoting her Naia Beach collection at John Lewis in Oxford Street when her estranged husband, BBC Radio 2 host Vernon Kay, 52, appeared in the background of a video she shared on Instagram.
Supportive Exes
Despite announcing their decision to end their marriage after 23 years last month, the couple have remained close. In a joint statement at the time, they said they would remain “great friends,” and this week’s reunion appears to confirm that. In the video, Tess panned the camera to Vernon, who then raved about the collection and pointed out his favorite swimsuit, designed with the help of their eldest daughter, Phoebe.
“I’ve been [on] the whole journey throughout the Naia Beach development process and now it’s absolutely flying and I’ve seen how it’s gone from strength to strength to strength,” Vernon said, before picking up the swimming costume and attempting to model it, leading to laughter from Tess and her business partner.
Vernon Mentions Tess on Radio
Vernon also mentioned Tess on his BBC Radio 2 show, discussing hacks for the heatwave. He shared how their dog, Blue, had struggled in the sun. “We wrapped our Chihuahua last night, in a towel, a wet towel,” he told listeners. “Little Blue. He was struggling, he really was struggling… So Tess said, 'Why don't we just put him in a wet towel?' So I was like, 'yeah, looks like a poncho'. So, he had this poncho over him all night, just chilling.”
Divorce Announcement
The couple, who share daughters Phoebe and Amber, first started dating in 2001 after meeting at a Christmas party and married two years later. Last month, they shocked fans by confirming their split. In a joint statement, they said: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably. This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. We remain great friends and more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority. There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments.”
