Former Reality Star Teddi Mellencamp Shares Details of New Romance During Cancer Treatment
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp has opened up about navigating a new romantic relationship while continuing her battle against stage four melanoma. The 44-year-old television personality, who was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022, revealed the development of this new connection during a recent episode of her podcast, Two Ts In A Pod, co-hosted with fellow Bravo star Tamara Judge.
Taking Things Slowly in New Relationship
Mellencamp disclosed that she has been on approximately ten dates with an older gentleman, whose identity she chose not to reveal publicly. She emphasised that she is "taking things slow" in this budding romance, which has blossomed amid her ongoing health challenges. When questioned by Judge about how her partner handles her cancer diagnosis, Mellencamp described him as a "positive and logical person" who brings much-needed laughter into her life.
"He's older than I am. But the thing that I like the most about him is he makes me laugh," Mellencamp shared during the podcast conversation. She noted his considerate nature, particularly regarding her physical wellbeing during outings while she undergoes immunotherapy treatment.
Considerate Partner Amid Health Struggles
The reality star recounted a specific instance following a dinner at Craig's in West Hollywood, where her partner thoughtfully inquired about her energy levels before suggesting they extend their evening. "He's like, 'Do you want to go there or are you too tired from your immunotherapy?'" Mellencamp recalled. She acknowledged that while she felt energetic in the moment, she experienced significant fatigue the following morning.
Both Mellencamp and her new partner are parents, though their parenting situations differ considerably. Her partner has children who have recently graduated from high school, while Mellencamp shares three younger children—Slate, 12, Cruz, 11, and Dove, six—with her ex-husband Edwin Arroyave. This disparity has presented logistical challenges in their dating dynamic.
Cancer Journey and Current Treatment Status
Mellencamp's health journey has been particularly challenging. After her initial melanoma diagnosis in 2022, the cancer progressed to stage four in 2025, metastasizing to her lungs and brain. She underwent major brain surgery that successfully removed four tumors. In October, she revealed on her podcast that she had "no detectable cancer" but clarified that she is not yet considered in remission.
"I'm still going to be having days when I'm feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I'm still fighting because you have to be," Mellencamp explained. She noted that medical professionals typically consider remission after three years of treatment, and she plans to continue immunotherapy for at least another year.
Dating Amid Criticism and Health Challenges
This is not the first time Mellencamp has addressed her dating life during her cancer battle. In July 2025, she responded to critics who suggested she should focus solely on her children and survival rather than romantic pursuits. Her current revelations demonstrate her determination to maintain normalcy and seek happiness despite her serious health condition.
The reality star's openness about balancing romance with cancer treatment provides insight into the complexities faced by individuals navigating serious illnesses while attempting to maintain personal relationships and emotional wellbeing.
