Taylor Swift has revealed that her mother, Andrea Swift, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour while already undergoing treatment for cancer for the second time. The singer shared the news while filming her upcoming Netflix documentary.
Andrea was receiving chemotherapy when doctors discovered the tumour. Taylor described the experience as deeply challenging, noting that the symptoms of a brain tumour differ significantly from those of her mother's previous cancer bouts.
“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumour. The symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumour is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before,” Taylor said.
The Grammy-winning artist emphasised her mother's role as her guiding force, saying, “Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first.” Due to her mother's health, Taylor has opted for a shorter tour in 2020, lasting only a month, to remain close to her family.
Both of Taylor's parents have previously battled cancer. The singer has cancelled her typical six-month stadium tour in favour of a month-long festival tour for her latest album, explaining, “This is a year where I have to be there for my family.”
