Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City has been tipped as the venue for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding this weekend, according to multiple reports. The iconic arena, which has hosted historic events from Muhammad Ali's 'Fight of the Century' to President John F. Kennedy's 45th birthday celebration, is now at the centre of what could be the wedding of the year.
Images have shown the venue swarmed by the National Guard, with 70 NYPD officers reportedly on standby to ensure privacy. However, later reports suggested the setup could be an elaborate hoax to mislead paparazzi. Despite this, many remain convinced that Swift and Kelce will tie the knot there.
Security and Preparations at MSG
Parking has been restricted around the arena ahead of the weekend. Trucks have been seen arriving, offloading items including a red carpet placed near the VIP entrance. Crews were spotted unloading large, covered scenic pieces labelled 'Garden Party 1 (Scenic)' and spray-painted 'GP' outside the venue.
Sources told TMZ that a huge castle will be built inside MSG to create a fairy-tale atmosphere. The New York Times previously reported that the arena had been rented for a multi-day event by Winick Productions, scheduled between July 2 and 4, coinciding with the rumoured wedding date.
Historic Venue with a Storied Past
MSG is home to the New York Knicks and New York Rangers and has hosted legendary events. In 1971, it staged the 'Fight of the Century' between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Politically, it hosted Donald Trump's 2024 campaign rally and JFK's 45th birthday gala in 1962, where Marilyn Monroe sang 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President'. Musically, it has featured tours by Harry Styles, Madonna, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Kylie Minogue, and Lady Gaga, as well as multiple dates from Swift's own Eras Tour.
Celebrity Guests and Wedding Details
Taylor Swift biographer Anna Pointer told the Mirror that the event will feature superstar performers and multiple wedding dresses. 'People said it was an Easter egg when she turned up at the NBA finals wearing a Stevie Nicks T-shirt. So whether Stevie Nicks will perform alone, or she could team up with Taylor, that could happen,' she said.
Pointer added that potential bridesmaids include the Haim sisters (Esther, Danielle, and Alana), Emma Stone, Gigi Hadid, and Jason and Kylie Kelce's four daughters. 'There could be five or six dresses and whatever she wears for the rehearsal dinner will also be pretty showstopping,' she claimed.
Public Calendar and Evidence
The public calendar for MSG shows no events between July 2 and 4, with the next listed as a Bon Jovi concert on July 7. This gap, combined with the security presence and deliveries, has fuelled speculation that Swift and Kelce will use the venue for their wedding.
