Sir Ian McKellen made a surprise appearance at a Scissor Sisters concert at The O2 Arena in London on Friday, May 23, thrilling fans during the band's 21st anniversary tour. The 85-year-old actor, known for roles in X-Men and The Lord of the Rings, performed a dramatic reading of his recorded monologue from the track Invisible Light.

Footage shared on social media showed the moment McKellen took the stage as the venue went dark with strobe lights. Attendees described the cameo as 'electrifying,' with one fan posting on X: 'A concert cameo like no other. Sir Ian McKellen has blown The O2 roof off.' Another wrote: 'Absolute mayhem as Sir Ian McKellen does a dramatic reading of his lines... Cried a little.'

Rebecca Lucy Taylor, known as Self Esteem, also joined the band for a dance during Take Your Mama. The gigs mark Scissor Sisters' first live performances since their 2012 hiatus, aside from a brief 2017 comeback and a 2019 charity single.

The band, consisting of Jake Shears, Babydaddy, Del Marquis, and Randy Real, are touring the UK with dates in Birmingham, Belfast, and Dublin still to come. Ana Matronic is not part of this year's tour due to scheduling conflicts.

Fans have speculated about new music after a haunting rendition of Mary at the show. Singer Jake Shears reflected on the band's legacy, saying: 'When that song came out and did what it did, I was just like, "Well, there it is, I guess we did it."'
