Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are preparing to say 'I do' this weekend in what is expected to be the showbiz wedding of the decade. The pop superstar and the NFL star, both 36, are set to marry at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with reports suggesting that 70 NYPD officers have been deployed to maintain privacy. However, some speculation hints that the event could be an elaborate hoax or a carefully crafted 'Easter egg' by Swift.
Why Madison Square Garden?
Taylor's biographer, Anna Pointer, explained the choice of venue: 'When people first started saying it was gonna be at Madison Square Garden, the reaction was, 'Really? Why would she want to have a wedding in a stadium?' But as time's gone on, it does make quite a lot of sense. There are no windows. She wants to keep this really private - we know that - so the world can't look in and see what's going on. Guests will be walking down shielded tunnels. This makes sense in the middle of New York where they can shut down streets, which is what is apparently happening. It's gonna be lockdown in Manhattan essentially.'
Travel Chaos for Guests
As the couple prepares to welcome guests, travel issues have arisen. Travis's close friend, NFL player George Kittle, and his wife Claire faced delays flying from Nashville to New York. Claire posted on social media: 'Just at BNA all evening. Was supposed to depart at 5:30am now it's 8am lol.' The flight, originally scheduled for Wednesday night, is now not expected to take off until early Thursday morning.
Their Engagement Post
The couple announced their engagement in August 2025 with a photo set against a backdrop of roses in Travis's backyard, featuring a stunning ring. The caption read: 'Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.' The post garnered 37 million likes on Instagram, as fans celebrated Swift's happy ending.
Taylor and Travis' Love Story
Taylor and Travis began dating three years ago after his failed attempt to meet her during the Kansas City leg of her Eras Tour. Travis had placed his phone number on a friendship bracelet, hoping to give it to the singer. On his New Heights podcast, he confessed: 'She doesn't meet anybody, or at least she didn't want to meet me, so I took it personal.' However, after Swift learned of his efforts, they connected through mutual friends and got engaged in August 2025.
