The new series of Celeb SAS: Who Dares Wins descended into chaos on Sunday night as two celebrity contestants quit during the very first episode. The Channel 4 military challenge saw fourteen recruits, including Love Island's Chloe Burrows and Tasha Ghouri, X Factor's Lucy Spraggan, and footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa, face a hostage rescue mission described as the 'most dangerous' yet.
Pop star Hannah Spearritt, 44, known for her time with S Club 7 and acting roles in Primeval and EastEnders, became the first to leave the course. After struggling, she told instructors, 'Sorry – I'm done. Sorry. I've reached a point.' Fellow recruits speculated she had suffered a panic attack.
Dancer Louie Spence, 56, also dramatically walked off the programme. Despite earlier saying he would be 'p***ed off' to choose to leave, he told directing staff, 'I wanna do an immediate withdrawal. I just don't have the conviction and I feel as though I'm not dedicated enough.' He removed his armband and refused to put it back on when given a second chance.
In a previous confessional, Spence had praised the directing staff as 'incredible' but admitted he struggled most with the physical side of the course. Instructor Chris Oliver described the group's overall effort as 'abysmal' and urged the recruits to take things seriously.
