Tara Reid is making a public return after a distressing incident last year in which she alleges she was drugged at a Chicago bar. The American Pie actress, 50, appeared to be enjoying herself as she stepped out on Friday at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
Reid wore an edgy grey pantsuit paired with a black leather motorcycle bag. Despite her chic ensemble, her blonde hair looked slightly disheveled, and she appeared somewhat tired as she walked through the French streets.
A regular at the Cannes Film Festival since the mid-2000s, Reid has been attending various parties. It is unclear if the Sharknado star has a film screening at this year's festival, but she has several new projects in the works, including Mandate with Jon Lovitz.
On November 23, 2025, Reid claimed she was drugged by a stranger after having just one drink at a hotel in Rosemont, near O'Hare Airport in Chicago, Illinois. A hotel employee called 911, and she was taken out on a stretcher and brought to the hospital, as captured in a now-viral video.
The incident made global headlines, but three weeks later, the Rosemont Police Department announced they were closing the investigation after finding no evidence that Reid's drink was spiked. Police did not say her claims were false but stated they lacked evidence to proceed. 'We are not saying that [Reid's] claims are false, however at this time we do not have evidence to support it,' they told TMZ. 'Should additional evidence of a crime be brought forward, we will reopen the case and investigate accordingly.'
Reid said she felt 'judged and bullied' after police insisted there was no video evidence of anyone tampering with her drink. She told Us Weekly, 'I've been honest about the fact that I don't remember anything after my first drink. All I said was that I felt something was wrong and that I felt I may have been drugged, because I have no other explanation for why I woke up in a hospital gown with no memory of how I got there.' She added, 'Seeing the media twist my words and attack me for not remembering has been incredibly painful and is severely affecting my mental health. I feel bullied and judged for something I cannot recall. I'm trying to heal, but the public scrutiny is making that very difficult, and I've been afraid to even leave my house.' She concluded, 'No one ends up in the hospital for around eleven hours from drinking wine alone. I hadn't taken any medication that day, and I know something wasn't right. Whether I had additional drinks after that doesn't matter, the fact is I don't remember anything.'
