Tammy Slaton, the star of reality series 1000-lb Sisters, has been inundated with praise after sharing new selfies on Instagram that highlight her dramatic weight loss. The 37-year-old posted a series of photos, including one in which her collarbones were clearly visible, as she smiled in a strapless top and another in her pyjamas cradling her new cat, Chocolate.
Tammy underwent bariatric surgery in 2022 and has since dropped 440lbs, reaching a weight of 285lbs from a peak of 725lbs. Her surgeon, Dr Eric Smith, commented on the post: 'You are killing it.' Fans also chimed in, with messages such as 'Collar bones coming through' and 'Your journey is so inspiring.'
Speaking to People magazine in December 2023, Tammy reflected on her milestones, saying: 'Just being able to walk without a walker or be pushed in a wheelchair, and no oxygen. I don't even sleep with it at night anymore. Then it was being able to fit in a regular vehicle, front seat, and the belt buckle without an extender. What seems minor to some people is giant for me.'
Tammy spent over a year in a rehabilitation centre to achieve her transformation. However, she has faced significant setbacks, including the death of her husband, Caleb, in June 2023. The couple met at the rehab centre and married, but Caleb died at age 40 from unknown causes while Tammy was at home in Kentucky. The series 1000-lb Sisters, which airs on TLC, follows Tammy and her sister Amy on their weight loss journeys.
