Swift and Kelce to Wed at Madison Square Garden Friday

Popstar Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce will celebrate their wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday night, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the security plans who spoke to the Associated Press (AP). The couple will host a smaller rehearsal dinner on Thursday night before tying the knot at the New York arena.

Engagement and Speculation

Since the pair announced their engagement in August 2025, fans have speculated about the wedding day and venue. Rumours mounted in recent weeks that it would take place over the Fourth of July weekend, a US national holiday known to be one of Swift’s favourites, as she historically celebrates the day with big parties.

Nothing has been publicly confirmed by the couple. However, crews have been seen unloading equipment from trucks outside Madison Square Garden, including a large carpet briefly unveiled outside one entrance and then promptly removed.

Official Confirmations

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a press conference on Wednesday that the department was tracking an event at the arena. Tisch stated: “The NYPD will, of course, have a detail in place, but I’m not going to go into more specifics at this time.”

New York City’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, also confirmed to AP that a permit was filed for a large event. He said: “We are fully prepared. There isn’t anything to share beyond that.”

Recent Milestones

The wedding news comes weeks after Swift choked back tears as she made history as the youngest woman inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She paid an emotional tribute to her parents and brother at the New York ceremony, thanking them for uprooting their lives from Pennsylvania to Nashville to support her music career.

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August via a joint Instagram post that read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Musical References

Swift sang about the Kansas City Chiefs player in her UK number one album, The Life Of A Showgirl, including on the song “Opalite,” which references his birthstone, opal.
