Suzanne Shaw has announced her secret split from fiancé Sam Greenfield after 12 years together, revealing the breakup in an emotional Instagram post on Friday. The Hear'Say singer, 44, said the pair parted ways in January and that she has been dealing with the 'messy and unexpected' split over the last two months.
Shaw and Greenfield got engaged in 2014 and welcomed their son Rafferty in 2015. She also shares son Corey, 21, with ex-boyfriend Darren Day. The last time the couple were pictured together publicly was four years ago at the press night of Sister Act: The Musical in 2022.
In her Instagram video, Shaw was overcome with emotion as she explained her decision to go public. She said she had been navigating the breakup privately and was grateful for the tools she had developed since quitting alcohol six years ago. 'Thank god it's been six years of not drinking, six years of really dedicating my life to my personal development,' she said. 'I've been able to tap into therapy, meditation, running, and understanding that I need to lean into this pain and heal.'
Signs of trouble had emerged earlier this month when Shaw shared a Valentine's Day tribute to herself, with a poem about 'choosing yourself and choosing to be free'. In January, she posted a quote about 'starting again', adding: 'Don't settle, even if it means life will be a little uncomfortable for a while. Something wonderful could be waiting for you.'
