Television presenter Susannah Constantine has revealed she lost a stone in around 12 weeks by cutting refined sugar from her diet. The 64-year-old former What Not to Wear host shared an unfiltered swimsuit photograph on Instagram to showcase her transformation.
Constantine stated that her body is "weight loss drug free" and weighs 147lbs after five months without refined sugar. She acknowledged imperfections, writing: "It's still got shoulder splitting G cups. Still has a muffin top. Still has crepey skin and is about as toned as a water bed."
Breaking a chocolate addiction
The presenter has previously spoken about her dependence on chocolate, which she compared to her past alcohol addiction. She wrote in The Sunday Times that she would choose staying home with chocolate over socialising with friends.
"It got to the point where the choice between going out for dinner or staying home in bed with a box set and a stash of chocolate was no contest," she said. "Chocolate was affecting not only my weight and energy but also my social life."
Diet overhaul
Determined to change, Constantine eliminated refined sugar and focused on vegetables, fruit and nuts. She reported that after three months and being a stone lighter, she no longer craves chocolate. "For someone who, before March 1, had never gone a single day without chocolate, that feels remarkable," she wrote. "It is not rocket science, either. Loads of veg, blueberries, apples and nuts."
