Susanna Reid Returns to Good Morning Britain on Monday

Susanna Reid is set to return to Good Morning Britain on Monday, July 6, after a short break from the ITV breakfast show. The 55-year-old broadcaster last appeared on June 22 during live coverage of Sir Keir Starmer's resignation as Prime Minister and Labour Party leader.

Return Date Confirmed

Reid announced her return via Instagram on Sunday, July 5, sharing a selfie and expressing excitement about rejoining co-host Ed Balls. She wrote: "BACK TO WORK! Excited to be back @gmb tomorrow with @edballs - we are just discussing our plans to watch the football without crashing out during the programme." She added that she might miss England's World Cup game against Mexico, which kicks off at 1am on Monday, and instead watch highlights on her way to the studio.

Fans quickly responded with enthusiasm. One commented: "Good to have you back. Thought you had done a Starmer. Especially given the timing of your absence." Another wrote: "There's only one Reido," while a third said: "Great to have you back, always a bonus when you enjoy your work."

Background on Her Absence

Reid's last show on June 22 was extended by 30 minutes due to the breaking news of Starmer's resignation. Following that episode, she announced on Instagram that she would be taking a break for "a special project." The Prime Minister resigned during a speech outside Number 10 Downing Street but will remain in post until a new leadership contest concludes. Nominations begin on July 9 and close by July 16.

Career Highlights

Since 2014, Reid has been the lead presenter of Good Morning Britain, alongside Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley, Ed Balls, and formerly Piers Morgan and Ben Shephard. She has also appeared on BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg and BBC Breakfast, and was a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2011. Additionally, she has fronted documentaries including Death Row's Women with Susanna Reid, Death Row: Countdown to Execution, The Murder of Rhys Jones: Police Tapes, and Children Who Kill with Susanna Reid.

Good Morning Britain airs live every weekday from 6am to 9.30am on ITV.
