Susanna Reid has announced she is taking a summer break from Good Morning Britain, with fans expressing their support and saying they will miss her.
Reid confirms break and return date
The presenter shared the update on social media after Wednesday's programme on July 22, also paying tribute to the show's director, Stuart Earl, who has worked on the programme for a decade.
Reid wrote: “SHOES OFF, OUT OF OFFICE ON! Time for my summer break - but also time to say goodbye to our wonderful Director @stuearl who has been the champion of this programme for a decade. Thank you for everything Stuart.”
Referencing an interview with Robert Jenrick, in which he said “That was a waste of time” when he thought he was off-camera, Reid added: “@edballs and I will be back September 1st after our travels. THANK YOU to our amazing viewers for watching and for contacting us and sharing your views - never a “waste of time” being on this brilliant programme and thanks to everyone on Team.”

Followers sent messages of support. One wrote: “Enjoy your time off Susanna, have a few lie in's & perhaps catch up on some new reading material, which you might like to share & recommend? We'll miss you, always the voice of reason for me.” Another said: “Have a lovely summer see you back in September.” A third echoed: “Susanna have a lovely break looking forward to seeing back in September.”
ITV daytime changes
Reid's update comes after ITV made cuts and changes to daytime programming. Good Morning Britain has been extended by half an hour until 10am, cutting Lorraine Kelly's programme to just half an hour on a seasonal basis. Loose Women now airs for 30 weeks instead of 52 and without a live studio audience.

These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”
