Susan Boyle has cancelled her on-stage appearance in Boston just days before the show, leaving fans baffled by the explanation. The 65-year-old singer, currently enjoying a career revival, was scheduled to perform at the David Yarrow Foundation event on Friday 12th June alongside other Scottish talent to celebrate her home nation's World Cup appearance.
However, the star, who rose to fame after singing I Dreamed A Dream on Britain's Got Talent in 2009, took to social media to announce she could no longer attend because her manager was undergoing emergency dental treatment.
She posted on Facebook: "I'm so sorry to say that I will no longer be travelling to Boston for the David Yarrow Foundation event. Due to unforeseen circumstances following a dental procedure, my manager has been advised not to fly, which sadly means we're unable to make the journey."
"I was really looking forward to being there and supporting such a wonderful cause, and I'm so sorry for any disappointment this may cause. Sending my love and best wishes to everyone involved for a very special evening. Susan x"
Fans were left puzzled in the comments section, questioning why she couldn't travel alone. One fan wrote: "Have I read it wrong, isn't it the manager that can't go?" while another said: "Leave your manager recovering, we'll all come with you...we can manage you!"
A third commented: "Ummmm the manager had the dental work, not you," but a fourth person said: "Prayers for your manager's health to be restored."
This comes just days after Susan stunned fans with a surprise social media comeback sporting a blonde bob, faux fur coat and brown velour tracksuit. However, those anticipating a new album may be disappointed to learn that the star's return to the spotlight is merely as the ambassador for a new ice cream advertising campaign.
A post on Susan's Instagram explained that the star has partnered with Cornetto to perform a dance-heavy reworking of the ice cream brand's advertising jingle, entitled Just One Cornetto (reMAXed). Reacting to her dramatic new appearance, celebrities posted messages on Susan's Instagram page, including Roar singer Katy Perry: "I dreamt this dream" as PinkPantheress singer typed: "Okayyy."
